INFLUENCE OF Si-POWDER CHARACTERISTICS ON THE PORE STRUCTURE OF Si-POWDER COMPACTS AND OF REACTION-BONDED Si3N4

چکیده
In order to achieve a homogeneous starting material for the production of dense Si3N4 by post-sintering of RBSN, the morphological and chemical characteristics of the Si-starting powders as well as the pore structure of the Si-powder compacts have to be optimized. In this context, the influence of the grain size distribution on the micropore size distribution of the Sipowder compacts was determined through a systematic variation of the grain size distribution by dry and wet milling. The effect of micropore structure of the Si-powder compacts on the micropore size distribution of RBSN was analyzed.

Effects of Alloying Elements on the Formation of Core-Shell-Structured Reinforcing Particles during Heating of Al–Ti Powder Compacts
To prepare core-shell-structured Ti@compound particle (Ti@compoundp) reinforced Al matrix composite via powder thixoforming, the effects of alloying elements, such as Si, Cu, Mg, and Zn, on the reaction between Ti powders and Al melt, and the microstructure of the resulting reinforcements were investigated during heating of powder compacts at 993 K (720 °C). Simultaneously, the situations of th...
متن کاملReactive Sintering of TiAl - Ti 5 Si 3 Lnsitu Composites
TiAl with between 0 and 20 volume percent (v%)Ti5Si3 was produced by reactive sintering of cofd pressed compacts of elemental Ti, Al and Si powder mixtures at 7OO0C for 15 minutes in vacuum. The results show that adding Si to Ti and A1 reduces the swelling associated with reactive sintering of TiAI, as composites containing more than 5 vYoTigSi3 densified during reactive sintering. However, com...

متن کاملProcessing and Properties of ZrO2-Containing Reaction-Bonded Aluminum Oxide with High Initial Aluminum Contents
The reaction-bonded aluminum oxide (RBAO) process relies upon the oxidation of Al/Al2O3 powder compacts, and many of its associated advantages stem from the presence of the aluminum in the green powder. Higher aluminum contents in the starting powders allow for higher green strengths, densities, and lower overall shrinkage, all while producing a fine-grained, high-strength sintered material. Ho...
متن کاملEffects of compaction pressure and particle shape on the porosity and compression mechanical properties of sintered Ti6Al4V powder compacts for hard tissue implantation.
Sintered Ti6Al4V powder compacts potentially to be used in implant applications were prepared using commercially available spherical and angular powders (100-200 mum) within the porosity range of 34-54%. Cylindrical green powder compacts were cold compacted at various pressures and then sintered at 1200 degrees C for 2 h. The final percent porosity and mean pore sizes were determined as functio...
